Gas masks, Helmets & Tea at the Chestergate Hotel!
Monday 15th March saw residents at Lea house heading for cover, when they all took part re-enacting some of the more fun-filled memories of the Blitz.
Ladies from the Stockport Air Raid Shelters visited the Home to serve up Tea, Cheer and Song from Second World War Blackout Britain to those who, as children, remember taking shelter together whenever the sirens sounded.
Songs by Dame Vera Lynn and the music of Glenn Miller helped to bring the experience alive, and residents talked fondly of the shleters, which were ironically nicknamed the 'Chestergate Hotel' because of their 'luxurious' standard of accommodation.
